Happy Birthday

Hello!  I've been doing quite a bit of crafting this week, trying to keep my hands busy with crafting.  I have a theory that if my hands are full of colored pencils, adhesives, papers and such they cannot be lifting goodies into my mouth.  Unfortunately, I'm only partially successful, lol.  

I thought I should post this before I forget...  I did remember to take a photo this time, which in itself is pretty amazing.  I'm always thinking about it just after I like the flap on the envelope.  

These lovely blue, green and yellow papers are from a 6x6 pad, Sun Kiss by Prima.   I'm having lots of fun with it.  Under the digi there are 2 texture layers, a rectangle of burlap and a coppery ribbon (recycled from a candle).  In person you can see all the layers though in the picture they don't show up so well.  I added some gold Stickles on a few of the flowers.  I think that is becoming my trademark.  I absolutely love Stickles!

Iguana Wish You...

My son asked me to make a card for a 12-year old, son of his best friend.  I finally settled on something that I hope will tickle his funny bone.  Who knows with a 12-year old.  I'm pretty satisfied with the card, though.  I have two photos, the version that he got and the version without the googly eyes.  I prefer the version without them for the extra color.  I'm going to make another of these cards and think I'll use the googly eyes but maybe I can get a colored version???  

The sentiment is from Create With TLC, but I used a different lizard because I thought it was a little funnier for a boy that age.  Here's the version without the googly eyes:

I'd be interested in your thoughts on the eyes.

SUMMER CELEBRATIONS

This card was made for my mother's 82nd birthday.  I also made a photo album using my Your Story and will post pictures from that tomorrow.  This project kept me pretty busy.  I had a hard time finding the right pictures.  Mom suffers from dementia and I wanted pictures that will have major memories attached, things that would mean a lot to her.  Anyway, this card was fun.  I used digital papers, except for the solid pieces which are actually paint chips.  (Hope no one from my local Home Depot reads this...)  They are surprisingly easy to work with and have a totally different finish than anything else that I have found.  I do wish I had inked the edges of the orange slightly as I did the rest, it gave a lot of pizazz to the border, especially.  The flowers are Prima, the first I have used.  The colors are perfect for this card.

Hello to everyone!  Hope you enjoyed a lovely 3-days weekend.  I know that I did.  My hubby went off to a wedding in Minnesota and my son was working, so I was home alone for 3 days.  I got a lot of crafting done, mostly because it kept on raining.  It really was great to stay inside and warm and dry... 

I really had fun making this.  The image, which makes me laugh every time I look at it, is from Meljens, colored with pencils.  The paper I printed the image on is a heavy textured watercolor paper.  I haven't liked it for most things, but for the dog's rough fur it worked well.  I'll probably keep some around for times like this.  The green dotted paper is a free digital paper that I've had for a while.  I really like the color variation in it.  And I used my Texture Boutique to emboss the base card.  I'm wanting to get a larger embosser, but can't seem to decide which one.  Any ideas for me?   Okay, now the inside of the card...

The only thing I really wish I had done differently was to use more mats for the white rectangles on both the front and the inside.  Don't know why I am not consistent about that, because I really prefer them matted.  Oh, who knows!

Have a great week!  I'll be thinking about all of you hard at work people...  School is out and while I will be going to work still to finish up paperwork, I can set my own hours and do what I want.  That is really very freeing!

I'm glad to see that I got K Andrews post on my blog. It wasn't hard to figure out, after all. I wanted to post one more picture of my easel card. I couldn't get a good picture last night, but in the sun (YES, we did have some today!!!) it came out clear. So here it is, showing the sentiment sticker on the bottom. I love the way it turned out. I think I might want to make another, if I can find these or some similar stickers.

Hello to all my crafty friends and family!  I really do love to color.  I didn't realize that I had missed it, but I'm really having lots of fun in the evenings.  I couldn't resist this cute bunny with the addition of the fence behind him.  Isn't he darling? 

Now, if my sister is reading, I really hope she will stop.  If she continues, she'll just have to forget what she sees, because I really made this card too early.  When I found this great digi I just had to make the card!  This is my first easel card, and I think it turned out quite nicely.  I love the colors that tie together so nicely.

Isn't the paper great with it?  I found mat stacks on sale at Joann's last week and was able to pick up 2 that I loved.  I've been wanting this particular one since I first saw it.  This one is from Once Upon a Time by DCWV.  It's not easy to see in the picture, but the sticker on the bottom of the card says happy birthday.  It and the hat are from a set that my husband gave me for Christmas, from Punch Studio.  They're really nice.  I've been hoarding them...

Well, this looks like it'll be a great weekend.  Friday night and I've already finished two cards!  Can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring!

I have had a great weekend!  The sun was out part of the time, though it snowed for a while also (a typical day in north central Montana).  My husband was home and we were able to putter around a little.  We ate out with friends on Friday as we often do.  We made a trip out of town for groceries and to pick up a prescription, and went to church.  I had just the right amount of time for crafting.  Life can be very good!

I'm going to enter this card in a challenge at Pause, Dream, Enjoy.  It's fun to see how it looks compared to those others made.

I've been working on a double fold card that will let the inside unfold slowly.  Didn't get a picture of the first one I made so I'll have to make another.  It was pretty cute...  But I'm pleased with this one also.  This is for a friend who celebrates her birthday this week.  The sentiment (a freebie) says "birthdays are good for you, studies show that people who have the most live the longest."  What could be more perfect?

The next card is the same style, but maybe not quite so good.  I can't quite say what else I wish I had done, maybe used a different green for the base card, or maybe I should have embossed it.  I wanted to, but it didn't fit in my Sizzix Texture Botique.  I'll have to come up with some better plan, I guess.  Anyway, this is for my mom, hoping it will help her enjoy Spring! 

I'm off to try to finish at least one more card.  It's part-way done, so maybe I'll make it and can post it tonight.

Well, here goes nothing.  Jessi and I spent 4 days crafting together and ended up wishing there were a better way to share the things we make with each other.  We want to invite any of you who wish to do the same.  It's so much more fun to share with people you know and love.

Right now I'm into papercrafting, including cardmaking, scrapbooking and other things.  Of course there is still sewing, and I have a dresser full of fabric and so forth to prove it.  I will admit, however, that I am really loving working with paper.  I have always loved the tactile sensations from different kinds of paper and am fascinated by folding and constructing with it.  I bought my first Cricut cutter in August, 2010 (last summer) and was instantly hooked.  That little machine now resides in my classroom where it is used by one student regularly and others as needed.  In November my lovely husband bought me the Cricut Expression (if you're concerned about colors, which I am not, it's the plum version).  Wow!  I just love it.  I haven't bought a single card since then, made several Christmas presents, and could easily play around every day.  I have jokingly told my husband that he'll have to get a new camper, one of the toy-hauler variety that has a garage.  He can put his motorcycle in part of the garage, but I'm going to retrofit the rest into my craft-room-away-from-home.  Surprise, he looked at me like I had grown a third eye in the middle of my forehead!  lol

Okay, one more thing.  I plan to post pictures as often as possible of things I make.  Those I post today were made from August until now.  Unfortunately I didn't keep pictures of everything.  There were several that I wish I had photo-ed.  Oh, well!  An old lady is allowed to forget some things!
